Madu River and
Lagoon Boat Safari
Things to do in Hikkaduwa
The Madu Ganga is a watercourse which originates near Uragasmanhandiya in the Galle District of Sri Lanka and leads through thick mangroves before widening into the Madu Ganga Lake at Balapitiya. The river then flows into The Blue Lagoon before draining into the Indian Ocean.
The Madu river and lagoon is an amazing area to do boat safaris, because of the picturesque landscapes, beautiful wildlife with many different species of birds, eco system, and biodiversity. In the early evening you can see the fishermen in their canoes lighting lanterns to attract the shellfish into their traps.
