Bambarakanda waterfall is the highest waterfall of Sri Lanka and is in Haldummulla. In height it is around 263 meters. The water falls down from a high rock on to other rocks and becomes more beautiful as it falls. Water comes from a tributary from Horton Plains. From there it goes to Samanala Wewa, meaning the Valley of Butterflies. Finally falls to the Walawe River.
The area around Bambarakanda has beautiful scenery, rugged terrain, some smaller waterfalls, tea plantations and a cool climate which makes it an attractive destination for nature lovers.
