On the second day of your tour, you will be departing from Negombo to the ancient city of Anuradhapura. The drive from Negombo to Anuradhapura takes around 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic views of the Sri Lankan countryside, with its lush greenery, rice fields, and coconut plantations.
Once you arrive in Anuradhapura, you can begin your exploration of this ancient city. Anuradhapura was the first capital of Sri Lanka and is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The city is home to many ancient Buddhist temples, stupas, and monasteries, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

After a day of exploring Anuradhapura, the next stop on your tour will be Sigiriya, another ancient city in Sri Lanka. The drive from Anuradhapura to Sigiriya takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sri Lankan countryside and pass by small villages and towns. If you have time, you can also make a stop at one of the many roadside stalls to try some local snacks and refreshments.
Then after checking into your hotel in Sigiriya, you have the option of either visiting Minneriya National Park for an afternoon safari or climbing Pidurangala Rock for a scenic sunset view, depending on your preferences.

Ascending Sigiriya rock in the early morning is a great idea, as it will allow you to avoid the scorching heat that can make climbing more difficult later in the day. The site opens at 7am, so you could aim to arrive shortly after that to get started on the climb.Once you have finished exploring Sigiriya, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa is a fantastic next stop. Located about 60 kilometers east of Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century and is home to many impressive ruins and historical landmarks.
After a full day of climbing and exploring, a traditional Ayurvedic massage can be a wonderful way to relax and rejuvenate your body and mind.

Today you will head to Kandy, another ancient capital city of Sri Lanka. The distance between Sigiriya and Kandy is approximately 90 kilometers, and the drive takes about 3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.On the way to Kandy, you can stop at various places of interest, such as the Dambulla Cave Temple, Nalanda Gedige, and the Matale Spice Garden followed by a cultural show in Kandy to wrap up the day.

Visiting the Temple of the Tooth early in the morning is a great way to experience the spiritual atmosphere of this important pilgrimage site. Many locals come to the temple early in the morning to offer their prayers and participate in rituals before starting their day. The Temple of the Tooth, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple located in the heart of Kandy. It’s one of Sri Lanka’s most important religious and cultural sites and is believed to house a tooth of the Buddha.
Kandy is a city with a rich cultural heritage, and there are many interesting sites to visit. In addition to the Temple of the Tooth and the Kandyan Cultural Centre, you can also visit the Royal Palace of Kandy, which is now a museum displaying traditional Kandyan art and artifacts. The Kandy Lake and its surrounding areas are also popular places to walk or relax.After exploring the city, you can visit the nearby Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which is located about 6 kilometers outside of Kandy. The garden is one of the largest and most impressive botanical gardens in Asia, with over 4000 species of plants and trees, including many rare and exotic species.
